5lbs 3oz to 6lbs 9oz in record time!

Well, record time to us anyways! 10 days ago the doctor weighed Jacob in at 5lbs3oz. Today they weighed him at 6 pounds, 9 ounces! That is huge weight gain in such a short period of time, we made the nurse weigh him again, and even on another scale (actually he weighed 6lbs 10, but then peed on the scale, losing an ounce).

We got sprung!

After a long, but fast week in the hospital, we finally got to head home Saturday! Little Jacob barely fit in the carseat, he is so small, but after passing the tests and the carseat inspection, we were good to go. We must have timed it right because he slept the entire way and the ride didn't seem to bother him much. Pili was probably more interested in seeing us, but definately perks up when Jacob makes a little noise. More photos are up, use the link on the right to get to the albums.

Almost home!

Quick update from our special suite at the hospital... We're extending our stay by another day or so, Jacob is doing well, but given his little size the docs want to keep him at least another day. Some new pics have been uploaded from the last 2 days, be sure to check them out!

Jacob Phillip Manning, March 8, 2008

Hello everyone! A quick update on the recent events in our lives:

On Sunday, March 8, Jodi woke up not feeling 100% but went about a normal morning routine. She thought she might have been getting sick, or maybe ate something wrong the day before. By 1pm, it wasn't getting much better and we called the Doctor shortly thereafter who advised just to monitor her feelings for the next hour or so and call back. She did, and noted the feelings were not easing and the contractions she thought she might have been feeling were slightly increasing. So, as per the Doc's instructions, off to the hospital we went around 3pm with nothing other than the clothes on our backs. By 3:30 she was hooked up to a monitor, trying to relax. Next thing you know, her water breaks and our Doctor who came in to meet us is telling us the baby is coming. Now. !!! At 5:10, after only 19 minutes of pushing, baby Jacob was born 5 weeks early weighing in at 5lbs 2oz. Jodi can give the expanded version of the story soon but for now, Jodi is doing great, and Jacob is progressing nicely.

Week 34 ends

Well another week has come to an end. Week 34 is almost complete! It's been a busy week with lots of things after school. Thank God I have been sleeping better! Monday evening was the Mendon town meeting, although I only made it until 7:20, Ted stayed until the end- 10:00. Tuesday evening was our first child birth class. It was very interesting, even a little scary at times, and the instructor was great. There were five couples there, two others didn't show. It was a very diverse group, and yes, we were the oldest (except one other dad said he was 38). Wednesday evening we went out for a delicious dinner at Countryman's Pleasure with Ted's parents. Thanks Joe and Stephanie- it was great! Thursday I had a late meeting at school followed by grocery shopping and a rest on the couch. Luckily Bella came over to play with Pili, so she was happy. And now today, Friday, I've decided to work half a day to try and rest some for the weekend. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!! :-)

So tired...

...but now I can't sleep! I worked hard all day Saturday cleaning, maybe too hard, and then went out for a great dinner with our friends Jeff and Abbe. Needless to say I was almost asleep in church this morning. So I came home, took a nap, and then got to work again. I cleaned the dog hair and nose prints out of my car, took Pili for a walk, and did some school work. Maybe I'm paying the price for the nap now, at 2am, by not sleeping. I was tossing and turning, and generally uncomfortable and crowded (because of Pili, not Ted). I really miss sleeping on my back. Once in a while I will wake up on my back feeling very comfortable, and other times I will slowly roll over and pause on my back for a second, but it hurts so much to lay on my back I keep turning. Weird how it changes, huh? I know it's better to lay on my side... I just want to sleep. The night is so long when you don't sleep well and have nothing to do.

Ted put the curtain rods up in the baby's room for me. It looks very cute with the valences up. Thanks, honey!
