Our 1st Hike at Pico

Yesterday we went for our first hike all together at Pico. It was a beautiful day, hot with a nice breeze. Ted was nice and waited for me since I'm a little slower than I used to be. I really need to get into shape! Only two month until Maui. I can't wait (except for the bathing suit part!).

Dirty Dog & Peaceful Baby

Jacob is 7 weeks old today!

Pili before her bath- can you believe I let her in the house! All the mud was dried so she made it to the shower without much problem.

NO, Pili!

Apparently not just pigs enjoy a good roll in the mud!! It was so funny I couldn't even stop her. I figured she was instantly so dirty I might as well just let her have a good time and maybe tire herself out. I just wished I'd remembered to give the poor dog a bath earlier than an hour before we were supposed to meet friends for dinner...

I can't figure out how to rotate the video and my resident expert is busy... so turn your head when you watch it.

6 weeks

Jacob saw Dr. Wood for a six week weigh in and check up yesterday... 8 pounds and 12.5 ounces!! He's such a healthy young man! He's moved up to the 25th percentile for weight- not bad movement for two weeks time. And he measured 20 inches long. I'm so proud of him (and so in love!).

This afternoon is our shower at school. It's a combined shower with my friend Becky that had her son 6 weeks early (2 weeks before Jacob was born). I can't wait to see them, as well as all my other friends from work. It's been a long time. I also can't wait to show off my son!

A new toy

Jacob received his first FedEx package Saturday... a wonderful rain forest play gym for the floor... but who is it from?! There was no information on the packing slip as to who sent it, other than "Walmart." Hopefully the real gift giver will come forward so we can properly thank them. Jacob has already enjoyed laying under it and looking at all the colorful toys. Pili thought she should be under it also but I thought differently!

Happy Easter!

"A beautiful heart..."

were Dr. Giddins exact words at Fletcher Allen Health Care after reviewing Jacob's EKG and echo cardiogram. He said the murmur was blood reverberating in Jacob's heart with a musical quality, which is perfectly normal. It's just the way some people's hearts sound. What a great day!

Dinner in the real world

I guess everyone with kids eat at 5pm. After our doctor appointment, we thought we'd get some food....it is interesting that the first wave of people in the place all had kids..like some external force draws them together at a certain time.. 1 month well baby visit

Jacob saw Dr. Wood today for his one month well baby visit. He weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces and was 19 inches long (both were at about the 5th percentile for full term babies- at least he's on the chart!). Dr. Wood was very happy with his growth and reassured us we were doing everything right. We've definitely become "high maintenance" parents! Thanks for being so patient with us Dr. Wood! Tomorrow we go to Burlington to have a pediatric cardiologist evaluate the heart murmur Dr. Wood has heard. He feels that it isn't anything bad but wants to be sure. Think good thoughts for baby Jacob!

Happy 1 Month Birthday Jake!

Sunday, April 5, 2009.
Our baby's a month old today! I can hardly believe a month has gone by... it's been a whirlwind of wonderful moments. The days and nights just go by as I sit and stare and snuggle with our son. I can't believe how lucky we are, to have such a perfect little boy. He gave us such a surprise 4 weeks ago when he decided to make his appearance 5 weeks early! He did remarkably well and is thriving. Tomorrow we go for his one month check up. I can't wait to see what he weighs now. Happy Birthday Jake!

Taste of summer

Since I now have become executive chef around here, I decided to make this haupia we brought home last summer. Someone (I wonder who) put it away and forgot all about it, but I found it! Wonder what else I'll find in the cupboards?
