Happy Leap Year!

Or do you say Happy Leap Day? It doesn't sound right...

Jacob's funny saying of the day... He was standing on the scale and he told me, "I weigh 40 degrees!" :-)

"Hey, where'd everyone go?!"

Jacob was trying to slide down the front hill on his belly like Pili does but found it doesn't work very well without a sled.

Vacation

Vacation week is coming to an end.. and that might be a good thing! It's been a long, tough week. I don't know if Jacob is just displaying his independence or what, but it's been challenging to say the least. I'm feeling very tired and depressed... not how I should feel after a week off! Oh well. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Jacob was sick the first few days of vacation but then got to ski quite a bit once he was feeling better. He's skiing well and Ted says he's even starting to turn on his own!

Only a week and a half until he turns three! WOW!

Funny

Lately there seem to be so many cute and funny things with Jacob that I keep saying I don't want to forget, I better get writing!  Tomorrow he will be 35 months old~ his last month as a 2 year old.  It doesn't seem possible!  He's talking even more, if that is possible, using some pretty sophisticated sentences.  All his talking usually results in some pretty funny situations...

The last few days we've been talking about the full moon.  Jacob says, "The moon is not a crescent any more?"  I tell him it's almost a full moon.  Now it's round.  He asks, "What's it full of?"

Jacob playing in the sink at Sue's house, washing dishes with a slow running stream of water when he asks Sue to, "Turn it up louder."

We were in the waiting room at the doctor's office updating some forms before a check up last week.  Jacob said, "I want to sign my name."  He took the pen and scribbled little marks saying, "J-A-C-O-B."  It was the first time I'd heard him say all the letters of his name in order.  Nice!

He's very interested in who bought everything and where it came from.  He asks, "Mama, who bought my toes?"  "Who bought the moon?" "Who bought this door, car, book...etc!"  It's never ending.  He's also very interested in babies and that they came from their Mama's bellies.  Last night as we were talking about this and he started going through all his friends and talking about where they came from... the two best... "Zachy came from Uncle Jonny's belly?" and "Cassie (the dog) came from Aunt Dawn's belly?"  LOL!  He's still just two!

He loves, loves, loves to be read to!  I really don't think it's a stall tactic to avoid bedtime either.  He will sit a listen to books for the longest time.  It's great!  Over time he seems to go from one favorite book to another.  I don't want to forget the progression of book's I've memorized...

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks From A to Z
Curious George (many different ones... Firefighters, Dump Truck)
Richard Scarry's Busiest Firefighters Ever
Pip and Squeak
Chickens to the Rescue

I know there are more books that go in the list of favorites but I'm drawing a blank.  I'll have to add to it over time.

He hasn't been interested in television, other than a little Sesame Street, until recently.  This is a good thing and I have not encouraged watching it.  But now he is really into Frosty the Snowman.  He will sit perfectly still and silent for 20 minutes while it's on!  Well, almost silent... he asks me to fast forward the commercials.  He's also quite good at singing the first verse of Frosty.
