Back to work

I just finished my first week (3 days) back at school. I hadn't been there to work since March 6th! Despite all that time, it almost felt like I never left! I've actually missed working, although there are some things I could do without (forever!). People keep asking me if I'm having a hard time leaving Jacob. Maybe something is wrong with me, because I'm fine with it. No, I know it's because he's very well taken care of by his Aunt Dawn (I am so grateful for that, I cannot begin to express it). I also know that it is so good for him to get out of our quiet house and be around his cousins. I am stressed about trying to do a 5 day a week job in just 2 days. There are some things I won't be doing at all, but I'm trying to put a LOT into 2 days. I don't like not having the time to do all that I want with the students. It makes me question whether I should of just gone back full time right away... But Jacob is my priority right now. In a few months I will be back at work full time so I need to enjoy the extra time I have with him now!

More Thank Yous!

Thanks Mom for coming up two days in a row to help me. Yesterday she watched Jacob and did TONS of laundry while I took a two hour nap. :-) Today she watched Jacob and helped me clean. I'll finish up cleaning tomorrow while Jacob is at his Aunt Dawn's house for a few hours. Thanks, Mom- I don't know what I'd do without you!

Nose update: Jacob's cold is getting better but he still gets very stuffy at times. I postponed the shots he was supposed to get today until Friday.

Gram update: The physical therapist has had her up and walking around. They are happy with how she is doing and are moving her to rehab tomorrow. She still isn't eating well and continues to be her stubborn self. We are going to see her in the morning before they get her all tired out.

Thank You!!

1. Thank you to Jonny and Dawn for having us for breakfast, helping with Jacob, and ALL the clothes. Jacob won't have to be a naked boy!

2. Thank you to my wonderful friend Sue for your company, cleaning my refrigerator (it sparkles), and feeding Jacob so I could take a shower. I feel so much better.

3. Thank you to my in-laws for bringing and cooking a delicious meal for me, cleaning up the kitchen, and helping with Jacob.

You have all helped to greatly improve my mood today. I feel blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. I love you all!

Stuffy Nose Update: Jacob had a tough night last night. He was so tired but kept waking because he couldn't breathe well. He slept some in his swing and the rest on my shoulder. Today he has continued to be stuffy, but in a pretty good mood considering. He has gotten to the point where he hates the saline nasal drops and aspirator and cries terribly. Poor baby... I feel so sad for him.

Update on Gram: My Gram had her partial hip replacement this morning. She made it through the surgery well. The morphine was making her pretty out of it so they switched to another med which helped. They are concerned about her lungs, oxygen levels, and the risk for pneumonia. Her lungs are weak due to emphysema. Jake and I will go see her tomorrow. He will make her happy!

Happy 5 Month Birthday Jacob Phillip Manning! Where is the time going!?

Doctors

Jacob was supposed to get the rest of his 4 month old shots today, but developed quite a stuffy nose during the night. Dr. Wood checked him out and agreed it wouldn't hurt to wait a few day. His temperature was also a little elevated, 99.9. So we'll try again Monday if he's better. We did find out that he weighs 18 pounds and 14 ounces! And he's moved up 10 points to the 85th percentile. Dr. Wood was very happy with how he looked, despite the stuffy nose, and assured me we were not over feeding him. He also commented on how alert and interactive Jacob is. He was full of smiles and giggles while we were there.

On a sad note, my grandmother fell at the country club on her way out to play golf and broke her hip. She broke the top of the femur right off, so they are doing a partial hip replacement at 7:30 tomorrow morning. The doctor said the recovery will be shorter for a partial hip replacement than for the bone to heal with such a significant break. She is a very strong willed woman. Please pray for her recovery.

We're home!

Well at least Jacob and I are... Ted is still in Maui, returning next Thursday. I love getting home- it feels so good to be back in your own place. The flights were fine, Jacob was a very good boy. He only really cried twice, once in the airport in San Francisco and another time on the plane in DC before take off. He also had two diaper blow outs and peed on the wall in the airplane bathroom! LOL. So now we are home, trying to organize, clean, catch-up, and are missing Ted. I miss his company, not to mention help! I don't know how single parents do it. It's a lot to do it by yourself, and I'm not even working right now. I don't seem to be able to accomplish much around the house yet... I can barely keep formula made and bottle clean, much less do all the other things that need to be done. Alright, enough complaining... you are 39 years old, get a grip... you can do it!
