What was I thinking wishing that Jacob would crawl!?  Just kidding!  Our little crawler is getting faster and faster!  I'm realizing how lucky we were to have 11 1/2 months of him staying where we put him.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to go to even leave him for even 30 seconds while I go to the bathroom.  I guess he will have to start going every where with me, otherwise when I return, he is gone!  And he thinks he is funny!  I don't even know where to start with the baby proofing.  I guess with gates on the stairs.  He still isn't pulling him self up all the way.  He can get up to his knees, usually, but can't get onto his feet yet with out help... he's too heavy!  Once he can get to his feet, a whole new world of mischief will open up.  And he also has to learn to get back into a sitting position from crawling.  Right now he gets stuck.

One of his one year molars is just about through.  Maybe today- I haven't checked yet.  I hope soon, I know it's hurting him.

Crawling!

It's official... Jacob is crawling!  He's slow, and wobbly, but moving forward.  He went back and forth across the living room a few times tonight.  It's amazing how they all of a sudden put things together and can do it.  He's also been practicing his wave a lot today.  He will be sitting on the floor playing and all of the sudden start waving.  He looks at his hand like he's saying, "Wow, look at my hand move."  Then he uese his other hand to feel it.  Brilliant!

One year molars

I think Jacob is starting to get his one year molars. He woke up last night crying around 10:00, and was up until 2:30. He's been doing different things with his mouth and when I felt around today, I could feel HUGE bumps on his bottom gums. I tried to look tonight with a flashlight and could see a white point below the gum on the right side. I also got bit really hard on the fingernail, but what do you expect when you put your finger in an 11 1/2 month old's mouth?! He was in a good mood all day and took two decent naps, but it took me 1.5 hours to get him to sleep tonight. He was tired but just kept waking up. I gave him some motrin before bed... maybe I need to do it a little earlier.

Welcome, Baby Abbott!

Happy Birthday Logan Abbott!
Logan Abbott was born this afternoon around 1:45pm to his proud parents, Jessica and Mike. Logan weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 19 inches long! Everyone is doing great. Jessica is the daughter of my good friends, Randy and Debbie Dewey. We are so happy that Logan has arrived. He and Jacob will be at Pico, ripping it up, in just a few years!
Jacob is doing very well... he and dada are having a tubby as we speak. This morning I awoke to find him pulling the bumper in his crib up so that he could look out underneath it. So cute! Then while I was changing his diaper he started babbling "mama." He has said it a few times before but hasn't really babbled it until today. Then this evening he started to wave. Ted came home and we were saying hi to him, and I was waving. Jacob looked at his hand and started to wave. Of course we've been having him do it over and over. Isn't he just brilliant!?!

17 days until party day... 18 days until Jacob turn one!!

A pain in the... back!

Yesterday I setting my little 26+ pound love muffin down on the floor when something happened to my back. I'm not sure if I pulled a muscle in my lower back or what, but it hurt so bad I thought I was just going to fall on the floor. So I hobbled around the rest of the day, slept a little last night, and am definitely no better today. I think I will try and see Dr. Kirbach today. I've never had back problems, and it doesn't even make my back hurt to carry Jacob around. But right now I'm moving very slowly and can barely pick him up! Maybe it's all because I'm going to be turning the big 4-0 this summer! :-( Poor me.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy heart's day everyone! We've had a great day today. Jacob is finally back to himself! He slept all night again, until 7:00am. We went to Sugar and Spice for breakfast. Jacob enjoyed flirting and talking with everyone that looked at him or even just walked by! He also really liked their whole wheat pancakes, as did I. Just after we finished eating they evacuated the building because there was a small fire on the grill. Jacob didn't mind at all and luckily the temps were mild. After we got home Jacob took a nice three hour nap and I went to Pico for a few runs. Ted couldn't go because his pass is blacked out due to the holiday week. He brought me home a new board to try, next year's Salomon... I loved it! It was the most fun board I've ever been on. Then Grammie and Pops Manning visited. Jacob got sad when they left and started to cry! He wanted to play more. After lunch we went and got a few groceries I forgot yesterday and then headed to Shrewsbury to visit Grammie and Papa Melen. He had a great time playing. I'm so glad he's feeling better. Now I'm sipping wine, watching the amazing athletes cross country ski in the olympics (France just beat the US at the very end!), and Jacob is sleeping.

Ahhhh..... what a difference a full night's sleep can make, well almost a full night's sleep! I think it counts. Jacob went to bed at about 7:45 and woke up for a minute at midnight. I gave him his pacifier and he went back to sleep until 6:15! I'm very happy with that. Oh yea, I also had to turn him around at midnight because the head of his bed is still elevated and he had his feet elevated. Cute. I stayed up pretty late watching the opening ceremony for the olympics. I loved the pictures they showed of Vancouver and Whister. It was so beautiful. That was one of the best trips Ted and I have ever been on. I can't wait to go there again (it's just a long ways). I'm feeling good and can tell it's going to be a great day/week! I think I will hit the grocery store early with Jacob before his morning nap. Better get a move on it!

Vacation Week Begins

Well it's Friday. The start of vacation. I should be really happy. But it's been a very challenging week. Definitely the hardest since I've been back to work full time. Ted was away the first half and Jacob has been sick. I'm so tired. Jacob has been fussy, which I know is just because he isn't feeling well. I feel so bad and wish I could fix it. The antibiotics are starting to kick in and his cough has improved. His nose is still pretty stuffy and has a ways to go. I hate being in such an ugly mood. I keep telling myself to get out of it, and choose happiness, but it lingers. I need some sleep. I'm sure tomorrow will be better.

Three weeks until my baby turn one!!

Jacob has an ear infection in his right ear. :-( I knew something was bothering him, although I really thought the doctor wouldn't find anything. He's on amoxicillian twice a day for 10 days. He was fussy earlier, didn't take a morning nap, but has been good lately. He had yogurt and ravioli for lunch, then we went for a walk, and is now playing. I assume he will be napping for several hours very soon. Guess that means I will get to clean the bathrooms! Hopefully in 24 hours or so he will be back to himself.
Ted is in Providence on business, buying for next year's winter season until late Wednesday night. We are doing fine but miss him. Jacob's cold and cough continue to SLOWLY improve. I'm having him rechecked this morning just to make sure his ears are okay (because I am an overly worrisome mama). He has been fussy on and off, especially Sunday, which is so unlike him. He slept well last night until 4:00, then was up for an hour or so, and is now still sleeping. I'm going in a little late to school today. It's really nice not to have to be up by 5:30 rushing to leave by 7:15! Let's hope everything is okay at the doctor's and that my baby boy starts to feel better.

Oh yea, yesterday was his 11 month birthday! 27 days until his first birthday... 26 days until the party! I can't wait!

I hear someone calling my name...

Jacob's cough and stuffy/runny nose are slowly improving. He's still not eating well and is fussy on and off, which just isn't him. I have the head of his bed elevated to help with his nose, but it doesn't work too well when I come to get him in the morning and he's turned around so that his feet are elevated! Silly boy!

Happy B-Day Gianna!

We just got home from Gianna's 7th birthday party at the Pico pool. Jacob had a great time but was so tired that he fell asleep in the car before we got home (1.5 miles!). He really loves to swim. The party was awesome and all the kids were having a blast. Jacob also enjoyed a few bites of cake and ice cream. Which reminds me that I have to decide what kind of cake to make for him... his party is four weeks from tomorrow. Monday he will be 11 months! It doesn't remotely seem possible that almost a year has gone by. He has changed so much, though. He is babbling up a storm, mostly "dada, dada!" I'm still waiting for the "mama's" to start. Once in a while he comes out with one. His new thing is saying quiet sounds like "tuh, tuh." Pretty cute. He still isn't crawling but ties hard. He really enjoys walking around while holding onto your fingers.

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Well the Mr. Giggles video was from last weekend, before Jacob got sick, AGAIN! What is going on with him? Poor little baby started with a stuffy nose and cough on Monday. It was about the same Tuesday but got a lot worse that night, which of course resulted in not sleeping. Just what he doesn't need when he's sick. So Wednesday we saw Dr. Adams. His ears looked good, and lungs/bronchial tubes sounded clear, which she said surprised her due to his bad sounding cough. I guess it's the same old drill again... a virus that has to run its course. The good news is that he slept well last night and is still sleeping at 6:18. I will probably have to wake him soon (I hate doing that) or have Ted bring him to Aunt Dawn's. Hopefully he's feeling a little better today and will be a good boy for Aunt Dawn. I know he will be in good hands!

Weight: 26 lbs 10 oz (but that was with a diaper on, and it was wet!) :-)

The count down is on to his birthday... 32 days til March 8th... 31 days til his party!
