I gained how much!?!

We saw Dr. Leight this afternoon. The results from the ultrasound were very good. The placenta was healthy and continues to be in a good position. There were normal levels of amniotic fluid. The baby weighted 3.7 pounds (+/- .25 lbs) and measured approximately 31 weeks (the ultrasound was at 32 weeks). Dr. Leight said it was in the normal range. The baby's heart rate was in the mid 140s today and my blood pressure was 120 over 80 (after a very stressful day!). Now for the BIG number... I've gained 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks! I just don't know how that could of happened. Dr. Leight said it was fine and I have noticed that I've been retaining some fluids (so I really don't think it's from the cake I ate!). That brings the grand total to 32 pounds. Good thing I gave up candy for lent.

The curtain rods I ordered for the baby's room came today. Ted won't put them up for me now... grrr... like I want. But I guess since he's taking me on a date to Table 24 I shouldn't be mad at him.

Update on my friend Becky's baby that was born 6 weeks premature... Dylan continues to breathe on his own without any oxygen supplements and is starting to lean to suck (he's been getting tube feedings). They continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!

33 weeks

Seven weeks to go! Back to work tomorrow, unless of course this snow keeps up. A delay would be a nice way to start back on a Monday after a week off. It is snowing pretty hard.

Happy birthday to Dylan PatrickCurtis! My friend Becky's SON was born at 7:04am on this the 22nd day of February in Burlington. He was a little early, so he's tiny but perfect... 3 lbs. 7 oz. He is breathing on his own and not needing oxygen. Becky said she feels great. She sure sounds amazing! I am so happy for her and her husband. I've been thinking about them all day, wondering what they are doing. I can't wait to see some pictures of him. Congratulation to the Curtis family!

Date night

Yesterday Ted took the day off (most of it anyway) so we could go on a date. We went to Burlington to go shopping and out to dinner. I got the valance curtains I wanted for the baby's room and a few other things. I couldn't find the right curtain rods so I had to order them online. So much for being able to put them up right away. I hate having to wait! We had some great (only cooked for me) sushi at the Asiana House.

This afternoon I went swimming with Dawn and the boys. It felt so good to be in the water. My body was very relaxed and comfortable after. It was a little scary to put on a bathing suit! I had to try on a few in my drawer before I found a top that was decent... they fit like never before! Griffin was worried about me going and said that my big belly would make me sink to the bottom. Luckily the pool wasn't over my head!

Ultrasound

We went for an ultrasound this morning. We got a more experienced tech that was willing to tell us her thoughts (maybe too talkative for Ted, but I thought it was better than the ones that don't tell you much). We saw some really cute pictures of the baby, especially the face, saw some more hair, counted fingers, and saw the active legs that are often kicking me. She thought everything looked really good, including the placenta and umbilical cord. We'll get the results next week from Dr. Leight. One picture is a hand and the other 2 are up close nose and lips- so cute!

This afternoon Pili and I went snowshoeing and then for a walk! The snowshoeing was great. The rain packed the snow so we both stayed on top where there was a few inches of powder. There were tons of animal tracks so Pili had fun running back and forth sniffing them. I should sleep well tonight.

A heavenly day

Days don't get much better than the one I had today. It started with a wonderful maternity massage at Five Elements this morning (thanks to my hubby!). They had this big contoured cushion with a spot for your belly, so I could actually lay on my stomach. It was so comfortable. I wish I had one at home. I scheduled another massage for week 39. The woman that did the massage told me about some pressure points in the lower back and feet that can "get things going." I'll be up for trying it! I also scheduled a pedicure~ I want to have pretty toes for the big day.

Later Pili and I went for a walk in the sunshine, followed by yoga, a quick nap, and some cooking. Not a bad way to spend the day. Thanks Mr. Presidents for this holiday vacation week!

32 weeks

8 MONTHS! I can't believe it! 8 weeks to go. I'm starting to feel like there is no room left in my body... I can't breathe and moving, specifically rolling over at night, is getting difficult. But I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying every moment. Tomorrow I'm having a massage at Five Elements. Ted had gotten it for me for Christmas. Thanks, Ted! I'm sure it will be wonderful.

It's been a pretty uneventful start to vacation. I haven't really done much... took Pili for some walks, did a little cleaning, and I can't really remember what else. Oh yea, my friend Traci loaned me a Gracco Metrolite stroller and Snugride car seat, and an infant car seat stroller frame, so I took them apart and cleaned everything. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get it all back together, but it seemed to work out smoothly. I also went to church this morning. I've been busy but looking back over the weekend, I don't feel like I've accomplished much... I will get busy tomorrow!

31 weeks

We had an appointment with Dr. Leight today, and got all good news. I gained 2 pounds, for a total of 26, my belly measured right on at 31-32 centimeters, my blood pressure was 120 over 76, and the baby's heartbeat was strong. Tuesday we go for another ultrasound. Only a few days until we are 8 months!!

Pili and I went for a nice walk this afternoon. It was 45 degrees and felt so good! Apparently it was too warm for Pili though....

Talented Brother!

My very talented brother built us this wonderful bookcase for the baby's room. It looks great and I love it! I had looked and looked for a bookcase but couldn't find the right one... everything was either junk or way too pricey. Who knew I could get custom made furniture in just two days! Thanks, Jonny! Hmm, what do I need next...

I had a good weekend enjoying the milder temperatures. Pili and I went snowshoeing yesterday. Just up our trail Pili discovered that something had killed a bird, maybe a partridge, right on our trail! All that remained was a pile of feathers! There weren't really any tracks around which makes me wonder if maybe it was an owl or hawk that got it. I wonder if they would kill another bird? I did see a beautiful red fox yesterday morning walking out back, but there would of been tracks around if it had gotten the bird.

I went to church again yesterday. It was a "youth service" where children, or young adults, did everything. They did a fabulous job! The talent was just unbelievable. I feel very welcome at Grace Church. And I really like how "child friendly" the church is. I'm thinking of going to the new member classes next month.

Ted is in Providence, RI on business until late Wednesday. It's the New England ski and snowboard show. I'm sure he will find lots of good things to buy for next year. I'm anxious for him to have all his orders done so he can relax a little. He works way too hard! Until Wednesday, Pili and I will be very lonely without him!

30 weeks

I can't believe it's been 30 weeks! YEA! Ten more to go and then the fun really starts. I still feel great, just slowing down a little, and sore/stiff at night (rolling over has become somewhat painful- but I'm not complaining). I finally put away my winter coats... luckily Ted has good taste in jackets (and other things!).

Pili and I snowshoed after school today. I love bright and sunny days, even when it's cold. There is still so much snow but we made it quite a bit further than the other day. I used ski poles which helped some. Now I'm ready for bed... Pili, too!

Too much snow!

Is it possible that there is too much snow to snowshoe?!? When you weigh 24 pounds more than normal and are breaking through the snow up to your knees, smart people turn around and go for a walk on the road. Even Pili had a hard time since there wasn't a trail and ended up walking behind me at times (she has to be desperate to do that!). We slowly trudged though the snow to the spot where our trail meets up with our neighbor's, found out that he hadn't been out to break the trail either, so we turned around. It did feel good to be outside in 30 degree weather, though!
