Why do weekends have to go so fast? I cannot believe it is Monday already. Two weeks until April vacation; I cannot wait! Not too much new is going on. The weather stinks but is supposed to greatly improve by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to the warm temps and getting outside. Jacob has been great... crawling really fast and getting into everything! He's sleeping through the nights most of the time, with a short wake up some nights (he misses his Mama!). Today Dawn has some appoinments with the boys so Ted is home with Jacob. I hope they have a good day. It's supposed to rain all day so they probably won't get out for a walk, but maybe they can go for a ride. I can't seem to locate the camera to post some new pictures, maybe Ted can do it later. It's probably upstairs but I'm too comfortable in my new chair to get up and go get it! LOL

Jacob has officially mastered the running crawl, accompanied by panting and a big grin! He is lightning fast and heads for his two favorite things, Pili's bowls and my plants. We've had to change the location of Pili's bowls three times. Poor dog runs in circles looking for her food. The second Jacob hears her drinking, he stops, listens, and then takes off for the bowls! And my big bird of paradise plant in the living room, with the shells all around it so that Pili would stop burying her bones in it, is now being dismantled by little hands. He ripped part of a leaf off this morning and constantly grabs the shells. I can't win! LOL!
Well he was sleeping though the night last week but has been waking up around 3 the last few nights. I snuggle and rock him and he goes back to sleep. I try to memorize the feeling, knowing that someday I won't get to do that with him.
I can't believe how beautiful it is outside. The doors are open! It says 58 degrees in the shade out back. The snow's almost melted on the deck, but you still can't see any of the lawn. Yesterday Ted and I went to Pico after school for three runs off the top. Soft corn snow and sun...so much fun!

I talked with Dr. Wood the other night. He's such an awesome doctor, never making us feel rushed with all our questions and following up on things. He talked with Dr. Kim, a hematologist at DHMC. He gave her the run down on Jacob and she said, "I think this kid will be just fine." :-) She said as long as he's healthy and growing, and his levels keep going up, we don't need to worry. We'll recheck his levels at 18 months. If he gets a serious infection we'll need to watch his white blood cell count and possibly use IV antibiotics. Thanks for all the well wishes. Please keep him in your prayers. I know it's working, he's absolutely perfect!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

12 month well baby visit
We saw Dr. Wood this afternoon for Jacob's 12 month check up. We had his blood work redone yesterday to check his neutrophil counts. His levels have gone up, to 960 now, but are still too low and considered neutropenia (1500 is average). At his last check, at 6 months, it was 912. I was so hoping it was normal now. Why is his bone marrow not functioning as it should? He looks like the picture of health to me. Dr. Wood is going to consult with the hematologist at Dartmouth and get back to us.
Our little preemie weighed 27 pounds, 1 ounce, which was just below the 95th percentile; was 30 inches tall, 75th percentile; and his head circumfrence was 48 centimeters and the 75th percentile. They asked if he was walking... we said no, but crawling. Last time they asked if he was crawling, and we had to say no. Why are they one step ahead? Or are we one step behind? We asked about his toe walking, which my friend Amy said was not a concern at this point. Dr. Wood concured and at first thought his ankels were stiff, but then though it was just Jacob flexing his strong muscles and resisting him. I think I might ask Amy to check him out, please! He also got his first chicken pox vaccine, but we held off on the other two. One at a time is enough. We'll go back next week for another one. I pray everything is okay with his bone marrow.
